Ongar kicked off their season with their first win of the campaign away to Canning Town reserves. Goals from Riyan Metsaha, Frank Goodall and Jack Zielinski gave the visitors a confident 3-1 victory.

The early stages of the game saw ongar miss a sequence of good opportunities as excellent off the ball pressure forced some mistakes from the home side. The visitors eventually took the lead after Jack Zielinski was brought down in the box after some concentrated pressure. Riyan Metsaha cooly tucked away the penalty for his first goal of the season. A second swiftly followed Jack Zielinski finishing smartly. Ongar pushed for a third but were caught out by a Canning Town set piece which brought one back for the hosts.

The second half began evenly with Canning Town enjoying their best spell of the game. Ongar has some pressure to soak up but both centre halves looked solid throughout. Ongar finally out distance between the two sides when Frank Goodal finished an excellent Ongar counter attack to secure the win for the visitors.

There were standout performances across the pitch for ongar with special mentions going to the midfield and back four. Man of the match was Sam Elliot who was a powerhouse in central midfield for the full 90 minutes.
