Ongar followed up their first win of the season with a comprehensive win over a resilient Shenfield side. A brace each from Riyan Metsaha and Frank Goodall saw Ongar come out 4-1 victors as they look to build on some consistent performances.

The hosts dominated the early stages of the game and should have been in the lead after both centre halves hit the woodwork from set pieces. The pressure from set pieces eventually paid off after centre half Roman Hackett’s header was intially blocked. Riyan Metsaha mopped up the rebound to give Ongar an early lead. A second soon followed after Metsaha put pressure on the visiting keeper who’s mistake led to Metsaha’s second. The Ongar pressure continued throughout the first half and a third soon followed, with Frank Goodall getting his first of the game.

The second half started at a slower pace as both sides settled into the game. Shenfield pulled one back from a quick free kick and a smart finish by the visiting forward. Ongar then sealed the win when Frank Goodall bagged his second and Ongar’s fourth to cap off a dominant performance.

Special mentions goes to centre halves Alfie Goodall (Man of the Match) and Roman Hackett who were solid throughout and were a threat at the opposition end. Ongar continue to respond to a tough start to the season and now look to be well in their stride.
